I was surprised to only get this one haiku on a 12-mile hike yesterday, but I guess I was just too busy gaping at how clear the air was and how the early autumn light made everything glossy or aglow. In fact, the first draft of the haiku mentioned the light on the leaves, but an hour later, when the sun was lower, I took this photo and thought it made a better fit with the autumnal theme. (Rhododendrons are of course an evergreen.)

The font is called Strawberry Blossom. In a different context it could easily seem a bit twee, but I think it works here.
