Train following the river; snowflakes following the train. How in the middle of nowhere a bucktoothed yokel on the side of a mountain gapes at the world’s commerce.

The Front = the Allegheny Front, just west of where I live. If I were submitting the haiku somewhere else, as a stand-alone, I’d probably have changed that to “the peaks” to make it more universally comprehensible. But maybe that would be a mistake. I do like trying to get as particular as I can with the names of things in a haiku, to the extent that its brevity allows.
